I just rebuilt a 12a for my 85 and it cranks but it won't actually run. I swapped everything from the former engine that ran fine until an apex seal cracked. I have a Mikuni sidedraft and RB exhaust. I've swapped dizzy's and coils to no avail. Anyone have any other ideas?

 

My rebuild wouldnt start either, then i made sure it was getting gas ignition etc., After that I hooked it up to my Jeep and pulled it till it did start. After I had it running I let it run for a while and shut it down and has started with the starter ever since. I dont think my starter turned fast enough or battery had enough juice for a rebuild. The engines are kind of tight and might need a little help.

 

I was wondering if I needed a jump or a good push to help. I might give that a try.

 

I tried pushing it and it would just barely want to catch. As soon as I press the clutch it quits completely. I'm stumped. Maybe a driveline problem as well?

 

well i've never tried to start a rebuilt rotary, but for the tractor motors we rebuild, we drag 'em til they run by themselves, sometimes it takes 2-3 trips up the road to get a ~400ci diesel to take...
