Rear wiper??

Does the rear wiper motor get its power from the rear defrost circur or from the actual rear defrost mechanism itself? Because my rear wiper doesnt work, and its not the switch, but there are breaks in my rear defroster so power doesnt get to the passenger side of the car, so I was wondering if fixing the rear defrost will bring back my wiper?

Mine was not working because the switch on the lift support needed to be adjusted. Now it only works when it wants to. I think the switch is now bad on mine.

i had this same problem before and it's remedy has been posted also. Their is an adjustment screw on the top of the window strut. Overtime that peice slides down and the prongs no longer make contact with the other side. You'll see what i mean when you take a look. Also take a DMM and see if you have current, could be a blown fuse.

I just changed mine to an 80 rear window, no more problems and the struts are actually holding up the window now. That was a bonus.

Of all the cars I have had with the wiper in the back, I really have never used it. I like the car better without it anyways, cleaned up the back area, getting rid of it.

Two things to know about the rear wipers:

1. The main power is supplied through a crappy setup. This can be rewired easily to avoid the strut contact fiasco. Unless of course you're lucky enough that yours is completely intact. What I ended up doing was to take the defrost leads from our donor car, and use them in place of the strut contact section of the circuit.

2. They only return to the bottom of the hatch if they receive power from the rear defrost circuit. That's what the third lead is for.

Here are some pics you may find usefull:

Thx guyz, I appreciate the responses, as to the fuse thing, all the fuses and fusable links are good, I couldnt find a fuse for the rear wiper, is it on the other wiper circut? or the defrost circut?
