Rear window latch

Not sure if others have had this problem, but my back latch (part on the glass) was loose. This was due to the rubber seals shrinking and the 2 pieces of the latch touched keeping me from tightening all the way. The outside piece has posts which I just ground down about 1/16 inch. Now I can snug t down. DO NOT over tighten as it will break the glass.

I only had the problem because I kept hearing a creaking sound going over speed bumps. Easy cheap fix.

I've seen many rx7's , good gaskets and bad, all use or need to use some sort of adhesive in between the gasket and the window, also a little nail polish or blue loctite will stop the screws from vibrating loose.

Actual adhesive between the bracket and the glass would be a bad idea; the bracket needs to "float" somewhat laterally to maintain alignment with the latch.

A small amount of Hylomar between the bracket rubbers and the glass will dampen the movement down & prevent rattles. Doesn't harden or wash out, won't hurt the rubber.
