rear wheel oil seal confusion
I ordered rear wheel bearings from VB for my SE, and just had them installed on my axles at a local shop. Today I'm ready to put the car back together, and I remove the previous oil seals. They are not all all like the ones I got from VB
The original ones are simply a metal casing with a rubber seal on the inside.
The ones that came from VB have a similar section, but are all rubber (at least on the outside) have an additional flange that has an exterior dimension that is about the same as the bearing collar. Obviously the collar isn't going to fit inside the flange.
Anyone know if these seals are for a later model? Am I to be confident that the bearings are the right ones for my car, or do I need to have the bearings removed and replaced?

I would say you got the wrong seals. Check the part number on your item vs. the catalog. The new seals may be a slightly different design, but the overall dimensions should be virtually identical.
