rear end shifted..
rear end shifted..
so last night it was wet out and i wasnt paying attention...i took a turn in my village a lil to fast and my rear end locked up and i slid into a curb.... blew my rim in pieces on the back and drove home with a donught but its making a wierd rubbing sound like the brakes or something... later on i noticed that my whole rear end is shifted... my driver tire sticks out far and passenger is pushed in.... i had another pair of rims and tires that are good and the rubbing still happens??? suggestions on where to start i can probabily get it pulled by my shop but will pulling it back the other way work??

Probably bent up one or more of the positioning links, or you might have tweaked their frame attachments .
Whole rear-end assembly needs careful visual inspection.

Harder than fixing what you broke, since as yet you don't know what you broke; your damage might include parts you'd still need.
Solve the diagnosis before you go trying to change anything.

ok.. put it up on the lift...axle bent so bad the brake caliper is moving back and forth with the wheel and rotor, and i think backing plate....whole rear end is shifted over... the main body mount in the middle is tweeked and so is the main rear sway bar....i searched for a new axle and could not find on apparently they dont make them anymore.... i thought the ford 8.8 is basically bolt in?? cuz i have one i could use from a mark 7 lsc
New axles can be found at www.re-speed.com
To my knowledge, there is no other rear end that just "bolts in". You would be looking at major fabrication if you went that route.
I purchased an entire rear end (including the links and everything else you would need) for 300 bucks when I upgraded my GS to a GSL rear. I'd start looking for something like that if I were in your shoes...
