Rear End Input Flange swap question

So I blew my rear end up on my 7, and I'm finally getting around to swapping in another one. Unfortunately, being the NOOB that I am, I didn't keep my S2 driveshaft to mate up with my S2 rear end. I have a S3 driveshaft, and my WTB ad on a local forum didn't get any hits (it was kind of a last minute thing, so not saying anything bad about my state-wide rotary forum, they're great guys). So here is my question:

I already have a new crush collar, and I need to purchase a new main oil seal for my rear end. The question that I have is how do I install the new crush collar into the rear axle? Do I have to pop out the oil control seal (metal part) from the input shaft portion of the pumpkin, and it slides out, then the new one slides in in it's place, or is it more complicated than that? I'm getting ready to switch jobs, and my boss is going to want his torque wrench back before I leave my current job, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Jim
