rear disc brake help

I have an '85 GSL (with GSL rear end, duh)

I tried to replace the rear brake pads, but I couldn't lift the caliper off enough to seperate it from the rotor. It feels like something is holding it back. Is there a trick to this? I left my Haynes manual in my apartment, and now I'm home for spring break, DOH!

Also, are the actual rotors the same front to back?

you have to release the parking brake cable. it is one nut on each cable. loosen the nut while holding the nut on the back side with another wrench. i think they are 12mm nuts. once you do that, you can move the cable foward in the bracket on the caliper and slide it out.
