Rear axle seals issues

When I restored the GSL-SE rear end that I stuck into my '85 GS, for some reason I didn't replace the seals. Well, the one on the left started leaking so I went down to O-Reilly's and bought a couple of them a couple of weeks ago. I finally got around to replacing them this weekend, but found that the ones they sold me were the wrong ones. So I took them back and the guy said the ones they gave me were what the computer called out. But they were way too small to be the right ones. So, he did a bunch of searching and finally came up with a set that were meant for a Cosmo that are the same size. They are all rubber while the originals were in a metal casing, and they were not quite as thick as the originals. But the outer and inner diameter were identical, so I went ahead and replaced the one that was leaking. So far, so good.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Yeah, I ordered from carquest, and the same thing happened. I'm thinking they gave me seals for the smaller axled non se rear end. So I returned them and they said the same thing about the system showing those seals for a 84-85 gsl-se So I just ordered some from MazdaTrix and it was like $12 or 15$ total after shipping. They are genuine mazda parts too.

1011-26-154 is the mazda part number. its metal with a rubber lip.

Guy's I'm in the middle of replacing my rear bearings, seals, retainers. I ran into a problem with the after market retainers that they were not machined fine enough and actually allowed the seals to slowly leak. I think when ordering these parts one can look at after market seals bearings, however one should go with factory retainers

i ordered them from advanced and napa and they gave me the right ones.
