RB light steel flywheel
I have a 215/225mm light steel flywheel that had a 215mm clutch on it for about a year. I'm unsure of mileage, but it's probably a couple thousand. There are a few heat spots and general light wear.
My question is whether I should have it resurfaced for use with a 225mm clutch? The wear isn't too deep, but clearly visible. The 225mm clutch adds only an extra 5mm of 'overhang' on the outer edge. I'm sure it would break in in no time. Should I even bother with resurfacing it? Thanks.

Thanks and thanks. you guys just saved me several hours of work (I don't have to pull the new light steel flywheel off my other engine in my 13B MG... it's got a 215mm clutch and no miles yet, which was my other option).
Since this is an aftermarket flywheel that bolts to an auto counterweight, Felix Miata has suggested that it's actually easier to resurface them than stock flywheels. So in other words, there is no need to take the stocker's imbalance into account with an aftermarket flywheel. Just letting you know.
The thing I was concerned with was if the 5mm step would be small enough to get away with not resurfacing it. I wasn't very worried about the heat spots. I'll make sure to inspect the flywheel before it's installed.

Where I work we allways resurface the flywheel when doing the clutch. Just have it done while you have it out. Its not that expensive to do, and you wont have to worry about it later.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Yeah, I'd resurface it. The lightweight steel flywheels are great (I've got one) and you shouldn't have to worry about balance issues during resurfacing like you do with stock ones.
