RB Exhaust Q

Say I get a RB header and muffler, but skip the presilencer, or better yet go for the long-primarie set-up. (theres no emissions where i live) Will my car be unbearably loud without the presilencer? Will i suffer from any lack of back pressure problems?

I have RB header to muffler, with only straight pipe in between. It's not loud, I actually like the way it sounds. I have a brand new presilencer, but have never put it on. I've had no problems with back pressure.

The RB muffler does a great job at quieting the rotary but it certainly does add exhaust restriction plus the pipes leading up to it are small. I replaced that muffler with bigger dual 2" pipes leading up to it and a Magnaflow 2.5" straight thru 18" can muffler and that motor really started to rip. Loved to rev. LOURer but still bearable but I had the RB road race header and dual presilencers.

DUAL presilencers? wow. Im trying to stay away from presilencers. Less money, and more power (i would think anyways.)

presilencers don't restrict exhaust flow. They're the same diameter inside as the header pipes, but the exteriors (from what I can understand) are wrapped tightly with a material somewhat remeniscant of steel wool.

Yeah they're more expensive, but you don't suffer any performance cut. And the cops won't notice you as much
