Rat's nest removal

79- 80 is a bit different from all these ever-lovin' FBs around here.
If you pull the nest, you can then pull the air pump ONLY IF you are going to swap in a header for the existing thermal reactor/manifold. (!!) If you pull the pump and DON'T swap out the reactor you WILL COOK the reactor!! (and end up buying the header anyway). And if you pull the pump you'll need a new belt to drive the water pump. Pineappleracing.com sells these "yoohoo" belts esp for this for about $15. Buy a spare

I also have a couple of MS Word .docs of more detailed info that I can email to you direct if you want to PM me.

Thanks Bass, but I have read that FAQ and the tutorial it refers to, but 7_aull is right, they don't really apply to '79-'80.
Thanks too 7_aull! I'll PM you.

Perhaps the differences of the removal procedure should be added to the FAQ. I've forgotten all about the thermal reactor-never had one. But I did get out of a few speeding tickets using the reactor as an excuse.

I've read the FAQs also and they are very oblivous to the '79 & '80 SA.
I've got a 1980 RX7 also and want to remove the TR, air pump, and rat's nest, to install an RB header system. But I am hesitant to do anything until I can find some good instructions and PICs to demonstrate how to do it.
So any help provided would be great.

Thermal reactor went into fusion overload which prevented the Flux Capacitor from discharging the Trakion particles fast enough to prevent uncontrollable acceleration.
Of course this caused free-range ION particles to inhibited brake function and prevented ignition termination.
The cop was lucky to catch him before he entered a spacial vortex and disappeared into hyperspace.

So nothing along the lines of "Your wife sure enjoys my thermal reactor"? Hmm....I guess that might explain the taser incident.

Actually, my last 'near-miss-ticket' was just a few minutes from home. The cop used to drive a 7 years ago and agreed that they had to be driven fast (every once in a while). He was good enough to give me a warning and told me which roads were best for such an 'activity' at certain times of the day so as to avoid future confrontations with police.

I've had no engine problems since I put the header on, removed all emmissions and air pump. It's not hard, you just have to buy the parts and work on your car. Oh and OMP removal just run an ounce of 2 stroke with a gallon of gasoline.

Looks like I have bigger fish to fry. The engine is totally seized. I've tried the MMO trick with absolutely no luck. I think I may have to pull it and rebuild. Does anyone have any pointers?
Thanks
