For the hundreth time... Canada got the exact same models as the States with the exception on the GX.

 

I would have to completely agree with RXcetera. I own a GX - 1982 that was produced 1/2 way through the 1981 year. It is considered quite rare. You can see a pic in the members gallery.

i got this wheel i think its not too bad i'd prolly rather have some 5 or 6 spokes but muh car was cheap and rims came with it.

 

The rims on my se must be pretty rare because the junyards want 50 bucks a piece. I found a place in alabama that has them cheaper.

I would like those rotor rims then if anybody asks me what a rotor is I could point at them.

Rare? Umm... YEAH. 1 of SEVEN sets EVER made in 4x110. Centerline IMSA wheels, 15x8". Centerline Wheels, Inc. appraised them @ $3100.

Wow, I'm surprised I've never posted in this thread before! There is a set of rotor wheels in the FS section for 1st gens. IIRC they weigh quite a bit more than the "+" wheels which only weigh 13lbs a piece.

Let me see if I can add any info here:
SA MODELS (Japan)
-RX7 GT: This was the Middle-of-the-Line model in the japanese home market, at least in the 78-80 SA models; the "Limited" being the top, "Custom" (complete with bias-belted tires!!) was the bottom. Here is the model line-up for 79-80, top to bottom according to the japanese brochure I have:
-Limited SE (SE were the sun-roof equiped models)
-Limited
-SE-GT
-GT
-Super Custom
-Custom
When the FBs came out, some of the above models were deleted or renamed.
WHEELS:
I have only ever been able to find 4 (OK five if you count the steel wheels) types of wheels offered for the 1978-80 SA RX7s. Note the Rotor-shaped wheels came out on the 1981 "Mk 2" RX7s as an option everywhere -except the good-old USofA (apparently). So the alloy wheels are:
1) standard waffle design we all know, in silver
2) Limited (79) wheel style
3) 80 Leather Sport (and possibly some other "specials"). Same pattern as the silver waffle but in a GOLD finish instead
4) OK. Now here is _the_ RAREST (as far as I can tell) SA wheel option. It is actually listed as a 3rd wheel option in the factory parts manual (which I have). It is actually a carry over from the RX5 Cosmo on which it was one of TWO alloy wheels offered for that model. I have attached a photo of it and the others. Note the flash on the photo washed out the color on the spokes, which are actually a dark metallic gray.
I also attached a snap of my SA with the gold wheels too. I actually have sets of all FOUR types (!). I just haven't figured out how to put them all on my car

what did these come on and what size are they. I heard theywere on the 83 limited and only like 1000 sets exist. is that true? If so that means they're 4x110 but 13 or 14 and how wide... I'd also kill for these rims and tires does anyone know what tires. they look like the 60's brand redline that came on the SS camaro

 

I'm getting a set of the Prime mesh 15's for a hundred bucks. Seen two sets of them up here.

 

$100 thats awesome dude. I want some rims so bad. Everytime i save money I think another persormance part makes more sence since they're usually cheaper and actually make the car faster..

 

These ones need a little TLC, but make the car look right. After that I'm buckling down for some actual modifications.

 

The first pic of that white fb has 83 Limited wheels you're correct. They made 5000 of them, they are 4x110 and 14" by 6" wide. I don't know about that second pic, although I have seen them before, and I like them too.

I don't care how old this thread is - it is an interesting subject, and the answers have not all been given. I don't know anything about which is most rare, but the most sought after stock wheels for the 1st gen here seem to be the 1983 Limited Edition. I have two sets, including the ones shown. Excuse the moto, but that is the only photo I could find.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe these are the lightest weight of all the stock wheels. They are definitely lighter than any I have owned. I believe they may also be the only stock wheels for the standard bolt pattern that are 14 inch. In any case, they are very nice wheels.

For those who don't know, some of the early wheels used a very long lug bolt, and you need to be sure you get the full set of lug bolts with the wheels or you may have trouble finding them.
