Ran into an issue

I have 2 83 RX7 that I am combing to make one. In my shell that I have I found a box that I am confused as to what it is. It is located in the driver side kick panal right about the hood latch. It has a Mitsubishi logo on it and connect to the wiring harness. Now this would not be that big of a deal till I found that my donor car did not have have one. Now the donor car I drove for a few days before I ripped it apart so I now it did not need it to run the 12a. Does any one have any ideas as to what this is? We were thinking it could be an ECU but then we did not see any plugs for a fuel rail.

That thing is the ECU. It is possibkle that the other 83 is a later model and they may have the ecu located under the pass side carpet under where your feet go. The ECU is located there on the 84/85 models. There wont be a plug for a fuel rail when it is a carb'ed engine.

I will have to look into that. I am going to one day drop a 13bt into this thing and just did not know if the person who had it before me was thinking that same and added the 13b ECU. So the other spot is under the passanger floor? cause my donor car has the bracket that this is connected to just nothing there.

Check and see if the wiring harness comes through on the driver side still like the other 83 you have. I have heard that the ecu can be yanked out ONLY IF all the emissions are removed, although I have not personally attempted it.
