Right on.
Are these a universal fit antenna? I have two other cars I'd like to purchase for, but can't find any other info online for Realistic power antennas and Radio Shack has no way of looking up applications by auto. Thanks.
Yes, i believe they are universal. They'll fit about anything, but are a perfect fit for the FB's. I bought and installed one on my GSL, it worked perfectly. Good instructions come with it, so you should be fine, especially for $19.99!!
Haha, at the begining of this thread I stated that I needed one bu have no money. Now I have money, but I cant buy one because I dont have a damn credit card to order one with
. I only have money in my pay pal acccount

Actually, thanks for the offer, but I just changed my mind...Kinda. I know I need one and want one, but I need to use the money in my pay pal account for some other stuff. Maybe Ill get one next time around. This is gonna be the second time Ive had to pass on this...

What does everyone think of the reception these things get? Mine blows. Did you guys just keep the insulated signal wire rolled up and plug it into the stock wire that runs up to the head unit or did you guys do something different? maybe i have a bad ground. Oh yea, I used the hatch light to power it as well, works fine.

****, right after I won this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...004241692&rd=1 I see this post....oh well, I think this rubber antenna will look good on my rex too, makes it look like a R/C car when parked tee hehehehehh!!!
Bumping an old thread is cool
.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I FINALLY after all this waiting was able to get one. It went in today, and works great.
Also, just to let you all know, after using both the Metra Schucks antenna ($54.99) and this Radio Shack antenna ($25 after shipping), I wish I knew about this one before. Theyre basically the same thing, but the Radio Shack unit comes with REAL leads off of it, plus extensions if theyre not long enough for what you want. It also comes with an antenna wire extension if you need that as well. Everything comes with terminals precrimped and insulated. The Metra kit has about 6" leads on the wires that were prestripped and that was about it. Talk about lame. This unit is plastic vs. the metal of the Metra, but I like it better because the lack of weight doesnt let it move in there AT ALL. The metra antenna I put in my Dads -SE was heavy, and even with the support strap bolted in there and the top nut tight, it sways inside the fender whenever you drive at highway speeds. The body panel metal on the car actually flexes because of the swinging weight from the resistance of the antenna mast in the wind. So basically, I really like this antenna. Someone had said theirs was loud. Mine is pretty quiet (almost sounds like my Carter fuel pump
), and I would say about half as quiet as the Metra. Also, mine gets really good reception as well. I also left the antenna wire unrolled, and used the hatch light for power. I ran the signal wire all the way up with the antenna wire though because my stock wiring behind the dash is trashed. Thats ok though, because the extension it comes with plugged right into the lead off the antenna itself (about halfway up the passenger door, thats how long the leads on the antenna itself are), then plugged right onto my CD player harness with no problems and about 6 feet more to go.
So, in closing, if you need an antenna, get one of these before theyre gone!!

PS - The only thing the Metra kit had going for it was the versatility of the mount on the top side of the body. The Metra comes with multiple tops for different types of body panels, etc. Although, it should be noted that the one that came with the Radio Shack unit was perfect for the RX-7 application.
EDIT: Just wanted to clarify that the waiting was not due to Radio Shack, but me. If you have been following this thread, in the beginning I had no money, then half way through I had money, but needed it for other things, and in the end I finally bought one
. So I just wanted to make it clear that it wasnt because of Radio Shack that I had to wait. I got mine in about 7 days.
