Joystick controls are the right answer. Your best bet is to just rip out any of the old wiring and start all over. Our cars came with external amplifiers. Because of this if you just hook up you new headunit up, it will fry these amps. Just run new wires to all four speakers and save yourself a huge headache. As for the s-cables, leave em in place or rip em out, they have no other function, once the old unit is out. They run under your center console and then under the DS storage bin to the amps. Good luck man

For power and related wiring, you can use a harness from Circuit city or Best Buy...
The diagram at http://www.installdr.com applies.
That will get you your Battery power, Ignition, ground, and illumination.
Power antenna will require the relay described at the InstallDR site.
As far as speakers, you can go behind the bins and find some wiring that leads to the speakers, OR you can run your own speaker wiring.
These cars came with small 25 watt amplifiers that ran the speakers. They are located under the lower edge of the bins and are labeled "Clarion".
There may be four wire harnesses that lead to each set of speakers. Rear will be the blue harness.
Optionally, you can read THIS: https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...17&postcount=3

With any remaining wires, you can use the battery tap test. Take a AA battery and just tap the remaining wires against it's + and - ends. Noise should come from a speaker if you have a pair that leads to that speaker. Test selectively till you find all the matching pairs. No noise, chose a different set of wires. Process of elimination.
