radio antenna question

radio antenna question

i have an 83 rx7 limited edition that i'm putting back together and i have 2 different antennas and i'm not sure which one is the stock one. one has a chrome base where it attaches to the body panel and the other has a black rubber base. any help would be great thanks.

post up some pictures of how it looks like. are they motorized with a mast?

You should probably search for the 83 marketing literature, but I think these came with power antennas.

no that is not a stock antenna. I have a 1982 with a stock power antenna and this is what the base looks like. i think the rubber o-ring gasket dried up over time.

OK thanks a lot boyee, that helps. I have an electrical problem somewhere in my car that prevents the power antenna from working unless I unplug the CPU. The power antenna has been wired onto the rear hatch light by the previous owner, and I thought the antenna must not be stock because the wiring is a different colour. When I do disconnect the CPU and get power to the antenna, the motor just whirs/clicks without retracting.

Because it won't retract, the only way to get it out is to cut it off at the base. Now I know its not stock I don't have any problems doing that
