Radiator Help

Was wondering if a 79 radiator fits on an 85 rx7? If not - does it require minor/major modification? Also what's the major difference between the two?

why? why not just buy a new one from radiators.com ? their web interface is pretty retarded, but i got mine 122 shipped, dual row, whereas my stock for my 84 was a single row...

It will fit. You may have to drill some new holes, but I'm not sure. The main difference is the '79-'82 have the short style radiator (usually the oil cooler would mount underneath). The '83-'85 have the tall radiators with the beehive oil cooler, or, in the case of the GSL-SE, the oil cooler is put in front of the radiator (instead of underneath).

Well the reason I didn't buy a new one was because I found a fairly new one on a junked 79 Rx7. It was only $30 bucks so I though why not? I really just needed one fast as my current one has a pin hole leak. Is there a difference between the two - does one cool better than the other?

One more item that is different. The lower hose. This is due to the raditor being shorter in hieght, but still having having the top sitting at the same level.
If you were to use this setup, you would likely need to fabricate a block-off under the raditor, so the fan would actually draw air thru, not under, at low speeds.Total capacity is the same for both styles, IIRC.

Ok, so I have an exchange policy that I got when I bought the Radiator. My question is should I exchange it for a radiator made to fit onto an 85 rx7 or just drop the 79 in.
