Racingbeat header..will a 86 work on a 85 SE?

Will the 86 version of racingbeats header work on an
85 gsl.se.....says its for a six port.....

they're both 13B 6 ports, but didn't the S4 use a different port actuation system than the SE?

Nope, the SE and the S4 both use exhaust backpressure to acutae the 6 ports. Th change came in the S5, which acutated the 6 ports via the air pump ACV, and a solonoid.

It can be made to work.. but not as a direct bolt up to the presilencer and stock connecting pipe..I believe that the S4 header has a slightly longer collector section to match the dimensions of the 2nd gen body.
The S4 uses the same 6-port actuation as the GSL-SE does.
Your best bet though is to give Racing Beat a call... and I recommend you ask for their catalog/manual if you dont already have one... lotsa good info

Yes, they work, neither have anything to do with back-pressure activated ports. The backpressure pick-up tube extrudes from the catalytic converter, neither the SE header nor the S4 header bolt up directly (they're the exact same).
