racing beat streetport templates

how big of a port will the RB sp templates give? is it big or more on the mild side? im going to be porting my 12a, this will be my first porting job and i would like to give it a very large streetport, so if the templates are mild i wonder if i could sucessfully cut it out a little bigger on the template and then port it. if i do this im worried about keeping the proper port shape.

couple more questions guys...
how do the mazdatrix templates compare with RB?

what are your thoughts on using the SP for intake and the racing template for the exhaust? i am thinking it would be fun with the racing exhaust to have the extra top end and have the brap brap idle im gonna stick with the sp intake for sure tho because its my first porting job and im not skilled enough for a bridge intake.

That sounds like a plan. I recently did the opposite. My intakes are quite large but the exhaust is a tiny bit smaller than what I wanted to do. They are '74-'75 13B rotor housings which have small 12A-like exhaust ports. All I had was a dremel and it didn't like the hard metal of the sleeves, plus I had no room the reach anything in there. I need a real carbide set of xmas trees and a decent die grinder for that stuff.

I fired it up for the first time last night and thought the ports were too large at first. It turned out to be ignition related instead. I think the ports will be ok. It's for an REPU, so I want it to have at least some low-end torque. I may even rebuild the engine after a while to prep it for a supercharger and really hog out the exhaust ports like my friend did on his 13B in his FB (his has the same plates and housings but lighter rotors). Now that's a nice combo! I think his intakes are similar to mine in size, but his exhaust is lots bigger. Man, that's a nice setup!
