racing beat headers.. can someone help me out?

ok, i was looking at the racing beat site. im getting a racing beat header, my mind is set on that, but can someone tell me the differences on the "streetable header collecter (12a)" and the "road race header (12a)" the roadrace one is $135 and seems better than the streetable header which is $168. is the roadrace one street legal? would i be better off with the roadrace one for performance? i mean, i want to be legal. can someone give me some more info on these? thanks

None of the Racing Beat headers are legal. As far as I know, none of the RB exhaust stuff is legal...It can be made legal with some custom work, but nothing they sell will be legal by its self. The difference is that one is made for one kind of system, and the other isint. The streetable is for stock port setups, whereas the others arent. You can still use the others on a stock port car though, at least thats what i have heard. Also, the streetable header is two tubes that collect into one at the end of the header, and the road race never collects.

PS - Thats smog legal anyway, nothing will pass emissions. As far as noise, it depends on where you are.

Edit: One more thing, none of them will bolt up to the stock exhaust (without the presilencer anyway)...Or so I have been told. If you have a header and presilencer, it will bolt up to the stock connecting pipe, and then bolt up to the stock muffler. Or if you buy the header, pre silencer, and muffler (the whole setup), it will all bolt on

What do you mean none of it is legal? None of it is emmissions legal in certain places like California, but it's perfectly legal in, say, Saskatchewan and many other provinces and states.

yeah, Canada does have hardly any emissions laws yet. im getting the full mindtrain 2.5" race system done in my car hopefully today or tomorrow (damn UPS). its a 2.5" 2-1 header to a 2.5" tailpipe with 3 mufflers, and then their big throats muffler. its gonna be freakin loud apparently, but ill just have to idle the car down the street lol. my neighbours are pissy, they stopped me for doing 28 km/h down the street that intersects with mine.
anyway, its nice not having to worry about emissions stuff

haha... I got pissed off at my neighbour, so I floored it out of my driveway when they weren't hom eat about 7:00 in the morning, sprayed their whole yard with gravel, and then took off to work. Then when I came home, I scuffed the big gouges outta my driveway with my feet, and you couldn't even tell. Then next time he mowed his lawn, I could hear all the rocks shooting everywhere, and dinging up his perfectly sharpened lawnmower blade

The guy deserved it, they're a$$holes, and they get pissed off at me for having an engine hoist, and a spare motor in my driveway, and they even called the bylaw enforcement officer once to check it out. The guy just laughed and said there was nothing he could do, as it couldn't be classified as an "unsightly premesis".

Oh, and they came out and b!tched at me once for sanding some bondo and primer down on my truck, and said it was getting all over their table about 100 yards away .... oh well, my other neighbour is awesome, he's got a welder I can use whenever, a complete air system, a full workshop with heat, etc...

my neihbors learned to be nice. Or i start the car at perioditic times. With an open header. I tends to wake poeple up for miles. So they stopped claling the cops on me for drag racing and smoking off tires or flying through the curves. No we have a happy understanding they play nice and i play quiet.

header differences

The street collector connects at the two exhaust chambers at the end of the header, but the racing one keeps them seperate. Personally, I was looking at the street port exhaust setup. It keeps the two chambers seperate all the way back to the muffler, ie, one tip per chamber. I've heard it's better to seperate the two for a better exhaust flow. I believe it is a bit louder though, but if you get the setup, it has 2 presilencers. Looks sweet too.

Proud of that?

All Kidding aside,

As a Homeowner, I would be VERY upset if my neighbor kept an engine and hoist outside of his home, in his driveway all the time.

As Much as I love working on cars, I also know how much time, money and effort is necessary to keep a home beautiful. I am sure you are one of the younger guys on the board, so it may not be as important to you right now.

But when you're married, and your wife is *constantly* reminding you about the eyesore neighbors house, and "whaddaya gonna do about it?" - you'll remember me.

Would you like it if you had a mint car that was always perfect, but had no choice but to be parked next to an old American Rusty Clunker? You wouldn't be able to appreciate your car as much.

I know there are some neighbors that are @$$es, no matter what you do (or don't do), but that doesn't sound like the case here. Try to put yourself in your neighbor's place, from his age, from his point of view. He's probably not asking for much. Just for you to keep your side looking decent.

BTW, I am not looking to argue with you on this, as you obviously know him better than I do, I just asking you to keep an open mind.

LOL. I would take a picture but i'm too lazy.

I get to park my car right next to a faded paint 1969 ford 250.

If ever i want to appreciate it, i move it to the other end of the driveway.

hehe

Re: racing beat headers.. can someone help me out?

Another difference is that with the streetable headers you can connect a highflow cat on them as a bolt on, with the roadrace you can not unless you make some modifications and welding and then you will need two highflow cats beacuse the pipes are separate all the way to the back....

If you are concern about emissions and your area does not have a visual inspection then the streetable header with a highflow cat will do, but you must also keep the airpump... and have it connected straight to the highflow cat fresh air inlet... or you won't pass emissions.... again, if you don't have a visual inspection then streetable is the way, unless you want to put a lot of money and effort to put cats on a roadrace header....
