quieting exhaust

Alright yall, I think I'm gonna try and get the well.......loudness to quiet down. I'm going to keep the muffler however. I plan on keeping the presilencer, but maybe I could throw sometype of magnaflow on it or something. By the way guys, does a street port increase the noise output in an exhaust? I would love some feedback on this thought. Thanks a lot guys.

I think so. It's not easy to tell for me. Mild streetport to power pulse muffler. But I had the same exhaust setup when I swapped from a stock engine to the streetport and I think it does, especially at high rpms.

fall apart in about a week ;p

unfortunately i've come to the conclusion that there's no cheap way to do a rotary exhaust correctly.

i'm going to be putting a stock muffler from another car on my exhaust.

it sounds good, it's just too loud

i have header/no cats so it will still have some volume and as far as i know most stock mufflers don't use packing so it should stand up to the heat(especially since it's at the very end of the exhaust and will only have to put up with the ocaisional flame)

Plenty of people are using Magnaflow mufflers on their rotary powered vehicles with good success. I presume you're talking about the Magnapack bottle mufflers?

magnaflow mufflers are good for rotaries. i know a lot of people in this forum w/ their 1st gen's using magna's

use a primaflow if you wanna quiet it down, it actually gives it also a deeper note

Looked at the stock presilencer for a MK III Supra? I know I ragged that to death on the "Hate My Neighbors" thread, but it should be the right diameter, and be pretty easy to fab a flange for.

All my street ported engines were a bit louder than stock. I've tried custom systems w/ dual Dynomax in place of cat, dual glass packs, dual turbo this & that & all were too loud. Came back to RB for all engines.
