quick tire fitment quistion

using the stock rims (12a style 13x5.5) will a 205-50 tire be ok to use????

it will be way wider but will it still fit and be able to be used??

my tires now are 185-70 so....a 205-50 will be 1.1" smaller sidewall size and just alittle bigger in width.

whats ya think? oh yea these are yokohama race compound tires btw

Hi Rusty. Most seem to go with 205/60, but I know that Carl is using 215/50 (Sumitomos) on his stock rims without any issues. I plan on going with 205s (Sumitomos) when I get mine, just to be sure that there are no fitment issues and no excessive sidewall flexing.

215's on my SE rims. I have seen 225's but would not advise it.

What psi do you pump your tire up to? I have the Sumitomo HTR 200 in 195/60 and they flex like a bitch during canyon driving... I pump them up to 37... I also have the Yokohama Advan A048 for auto-x and those are a lot better!!!

A street 205/60-13 will have plenty of sidewall flex unless bumped to near the max PSI rating.
A race compound tire *should* have much stiffer sidewalls than a street compound tire of the same size. Softer compound tread can only do so much, if the sidewalls were to allow the tread to lose contact with the ground.

205/60 is the biggest I would go but a 215/50 will fit too.

so why would you not use a 205 50? was wondering what adverse effects it would have.

I don't think they make 205/50 for 13s... I am currently using 185/60 for the front and 205/60 for the rear on the A048, i wont recommend them for street since they wear out pretty fast.

Which suspension setup are you running? I am guessing you are running the stock SA/FB, since you are asking about 13's.
My Ronal 15X7 wheels have a +15 offset, and have no clearance issues with 205/50-15's, even with the car having been lowered. Front fenders have been rolled slightly, but I don't know if it was needed, or done as a precautionary measure. Rims, tires, and springs were already on the car, when I bought it at the impound auction.
I hope this can help with your offset problem on the diamonds.
