Quick Question on Swapping a GSL-SE suspension into an SA.

I acquired a SE suspension and am putting in into my 1979 RX-7. Right now I am putting the rear end in. The front will follow once I get new struts. I have already got the thread pitch converter for the rear brake line and believe the car to already have the front converters.

My main question right now is. What drive shaft do I need to complete the conversion? I believe the transmission to be a stock 79 5 speed unit.

Thanks,

Greg

Awesome thanks trochoid. Actually this is KGrays old car which I believe you worked on a bit. The rear axle is a little bent so I am going full GSL-SE stock suspension.

Do you know if the front brake lines are the conversion from SA to FB thread pitch when it got the ground controls?

Thanks,

Greg

The entire front strut assemblies, including brakes and lower control arms are from my widebody, which is all S3 parts. Struts, calipers, rotors and ball joints had less than 4k miles on them when I did the work. Iirc, parts are ReSpeed, not GC. You may want to change the springs. The ones Kevin had were too short so Iinstalled the only pair I had. They are too tall and I have no idea what the spring rate is, unless you can still read the part # on them.

How's the powdercoating holding up?

The powder-coating is holding up well in parts. The underbody tray is the only area I think that is flaking off. I think the coilovers are GC or at least they are red and bronze instead of ReSpeed blue like the ones on my GSL-SE.

They 79 has more rust than I initially though mostly throughout the rear rockers and typical "storage bin" rust. Someone prior to Kevin did a pretty good job at hiding cheap body repairs but they are showing through again. The oil control seals are going out but I had a spare 12a handy.
