quick question over gsl-se
quick question over gsl-se
i was wondering if the parts off an 86 13b longblock could be interchanged with the parts off an 85 gsl-se.
the gsl-se has no compression in the front rotor so it seems like one of the seals is shot. the car just needs to run for a little longer til i get things situated.
i have an extra 13b long block with a blown coolant seal in the rear rotor that is off of an 86 gxl. the front has 80-something compressioin so it seems like its in good shape.

Quick answer is no. The rotors are different as are the irons/rotor housings (different location of the coolant o-rings). I am assuming that you want to put the front part of the '86 on the rear part of the SE engine..Is that correct?
The only thing you can use from the spare block are the rotors and thats only if you change both rotors, and reason being is because the 13b gsl-se are 3mm and the other motor has 2mm apex seals... and thats only because there 13b...but then when changing just one rotor your going to throw the balance off just a little bit...Can't use the housing from you spare motor because the coolant seals are on the irons...on the gsl-se motor the coolant seal are on the housings...
But this is what you can do...just buy a used set of seal or just that one seal that is shot...and close the motor back up...
