quick question

Why do people call some 1st gens SA and some 1st gens FB? I'm used to people calling all first gens (n/a and turbo)SA22C.

sa=79-80
fb=81-85

its the chassis code..

79-80 first gen=sa
81-85 first gen=fb
86-92 second gen=fc
93-95 third gen=fd
and the rx-8 i hear is the FE

hmm.. I guess thats the standard used in the states because I've never heard of it being mentioned as a FB in japan.I see so basically the zenki ones are called SA and the chuuki/kouki models are called FB.
