.....it did... then died... its an 85 se. now when i crank it, it makes a high pitched beep and sometimes i hear a clicking sound, the starter i guess... Im guessin its battery. Im a super idiot noob so bashing is welcome. ... but help is appreciated.

Are you saying that when you attempt to start the car, the only thing you hear is just a clicking or a high pitched whirring noise?

Things to check or do are the following. Remove the cables from the battery and clean the battery posts and the inside of the cable ends. If that does not fix the problem. Also pull the caps off the battery to inspect the water level unless it is a sealed battery. Check the tightness and cleanliness of the grounds. Inspect the wires that attach to the starter for condition and tightness.

Sometime the easiest thing to do to see if it's just a discharged batter is to remove the battery and install a known good one and see if it starts.

If you have done all of the above and the starter just continues to just spin but not engage or there is just a clicking noise then it's time to replace the starter.
