Quick ? before i buy 84 gsl

i have an 84 gs and i tried to search cause i swear i saw somewhere that the 84 gsl had 4x114.3 bolt pattern hubs and it had lsd, is this true?

i want lsd in my gs as well as the more common bolt pattern, also does the gsl have disc breaks for the rear end?

btw the gsl is an auto car would this affect anything swap wise?

thanks in advance sorry i just dont have time to search more and the link in the FAQ page is broken dead and gone

GSL will have the standard 4 x 110 bolt pattern.

GSL will have rear discs as well.

Not sure about the automatic trans making any difference, I doubt it...perhaps the gearing might be different?

It's the GSL-SE that has the different bolt pattern

yes...4x110...the only rx7 in the US with 4x114.3 is gsl-se and early base second gen cars.

the GSL and the GS both have the same rear end ratio. manual or automatic trans makes no difference. the GSL has limited slip and rear disc brakes.

ok cool, i think i will pick it up to get the lsd, its going to be pretty much free anyways

sucks it will still be 4x110 but its cooool

could someone tell me more about the re-speed fc brake mount kit?
it says it put 2nd gen rotors, hubs, and calipers onto an 84-85 rx....
so would this make it a 5 lug car as well since it uses the fc hub?

i guess overall i am trying to accomplish lsd and big brakes in my
gs, so 84 gsl lsd plus fc brakes/kit will accomplish this and all work
together correct?

thanks in advance i am just a little hazy on the fine details, anyone
running the fc kit from re speed, do you like it?

Also the -SE rear end has vented discs, the GSL rear end has solid rear discs.

Unless you are planning to significantly (+300HP) increase the horsepower of the car, and track the car on a road course, don't waste time in upgrading the already good brakes.

The stock brakes are more than adequate for street use, light track use, and even
some higher horsepower output.

i have an s5 tii engine and tranny in my garage, that is the end goal i have in mind

so does the fc brake conversion kit make it 5 lug?

i eventually want a full s5 turbo swapped fb with great suspension and lsd, and auto cross against the corvette club here in wyo if they let me and my import friends do it again, old vette owners dont like it when their times get beat by a ctr swapped crx and my little miata haha

The re-speed kit does change to 5x114.3 bolt pattern. You need to use the Moser axles with the 5x114.3 pattern re-speed sells to use the rear brakes. You'll need FC TII front hubs, rotors, calipers pads and the lines re-speed sells for the conversion. It is not a cheap conversion even if you get the TII parts for nothing.

Not really much point in doing the GXL calipers. They're single piston sliding calipers as well. Just a bit bigger than the stock GSL calipers I think. I'm 99% sure the RE-Speed kit is TII calipers only. You can get away with using the 4 bolt GXL hubs but you have to redrill TII rotors to fit every time you wear out a set. Too much headache in my opinion. If you shop around you can find the TII rotors for a fair price. Not exactly the right place to try to save money either. If your tossing the TII engine in, might as well give it the brakes it'll need.
