Questions

Hey Guys,

Just a few questions here;

1) Do I have a 6 port or 4 port? 85 GSL-SE

2) What can I do to add performance? I'm thinking intake manifold, exhaust.

I'm looking at getting onto the outer parts of the engine, not internal wise (like rotar balancing and what not).

What should I be doing for a tune up?

So far I've got this planned;

- New Driveshaft - $240
- New Springs - $200
- New Struts/Shocks - $400
- New Brakes - $?
- Oil Change - $40

Anything else I should be doing? This is going to sound really stupid but is the fuel filter in the tank or on the side? The thunderbirds was under the passenger side.

Air filters brand new although I'm sure it's that frams crap from wal-mart, should I go K&N or anything else?

Thanks,
Eric

#1. 6 port
#2. Exhaust is probably the most significant.
The fuel filter is on the driver side right in front of the rear suspension. I recomend doing the oil change yourself. It is not very hard, and then you know that it has been done right. K&N will be a small horsepower gain, so sure go get one with the money you saved by doing the oil change yourself!! Good luck, and hope that helps.

Alright,

I'm not expecting much out of a K&N Filter I just figured that the air filter is bogging me down some.

Exhaust, I like magnaflow's new sport compact exhaust, it sounds good. Can I take the racing beat from the headers back and just use a magnaflow muffler instead?

Thanks,
Eric

You can use any muffler you like, as well as header. Although RB is best for us. Pacesetter makes one, but from what I have read they are not to good in the quality area. Also go to the junk yard, find a 2nd gen coil and install the direct fire. MUCHO GRANDE! Improved thottle response is enormous. Cost about $15 and takes no time to install. Like the other guy said do the simple stuff yourself and save $$$$. Then spend it on other stuff you may need.

Alright,

I'm planning on getting the RB headers, presilencer, and pipe back and just putting a magnaflow muffler on because they don't sound ricey and I don't want to wake the neighbors.

This Direct Fire, could I use a Victoria British aftermarket coil out of there? I was looking at them last night. Is there any documents for this?

Thanks,
Eric

You could go to autozone and buy a new coil for I think 30 bucks. All you really need is a third coil. It doesnt really need to be better than the other ones.
