Question for widebody guys

I have a widebody kit i have been installing for awhile now, since it is not the Mariah kit, There is no provisions for moving the fuel door out. So right now the kit is on the car but the fuel door is recessed. I have shaved the door handles and have done alot to smooth the car, but the recessed fuel door is driving me nuts! What have you guys done to be able to move the fuel door out? I want to move it out but i also want to retain the electric fuel door pop.

Let me know how you guys did this!
thanks,
Bryan

This is where carefull planning and test fitting pays off. Oops. I'm guessing you have the CP/BD kit, correct? I modified the the bucket that the fill pipe bolts to, along with some extra cutting in the exisiting steel fender, before intall/bonding of the fiberglass one.

The older style locking fuel door works better than trying to use the electric popper one because the fiberglass is thicker than the oem steel mount.

After you remove foot from mouth, perhaps you could tell us widebody guys why we would mold a steel part into a fiberglass fender. Search for threads started under my user name and open the one tittled 'Unveiling....'. There you will find pics of mine and the issue the thread starter is asking about.

Bteets9914, I have progress and stage pics of my widebody install, including how I dealt with the filler neck. PM me with your e-mail addy and I will send them to you. The following link is my toy. https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-293/unvieling-12a-bp-widebody-462184/
