Question on Stock seat mounting

What's up everyone. Last night I attempted to mount my new (old) drivers seat. It's out of an '80 SA. My car is an '82 FB. I got the two inner-most bolts in and tight, and went about the task of bolting down the front outer mount when the unthinkable happened. The seat mount was so rusted that the metal tore around the mounting hole, making my new, comfortable seat VERY unsafe. Do you think that it would be o.k. for me to have some 1/4" plate steel with a M8x1.25 (stock seat mounting bolt) welded in over my existing seat mount to get a safe mounting point for my seat, or should I do something else? I'm not a fan of only having two mounting points for my seat (the outer rear mount was so rusted that I cut it out, it was 2/3 rusted out as it sat, and I didn't want to take a chance with mounting a seat to it. The seats that I had in the car were plastic, and were unsafe enough that I took them out and cut them up with my angle grinder, so putting those back in is not an option, even if they were still in one piece.

any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Jim

Find some pieces of 3/32-1/8" plate. Mount a plate on both sides of the floor, bolt them together, then drill a hole for the seat bolt, mount the nut under the car. Make sure the plates go well past any floor rust. If you want to keep the seat height, use longer bolts and add nuts between the top of the floor and seat rail.

Did you get the pics?

got the pics, right now I don't have the funds to do the work, and that car looks like it needs a ton of it. Should I bend the ear that is angled down toward the floor to make it parallel with the floor so I can bolt it through the floor? i'm kind of confused on what you're referring to.
