question on nikki carb

I purchased a carb rebuild kit and it did not contain the gasket for the item that has the yellow arrow pointing at it.

What exactly does that thing do and what is it called?

hello, I think that is a high altitude compestater,look at the 1st generation faQ page under "manuals" and you can get downloads of really helpful manuals about your rx7 and carb manuals too.

correct, that is the altitude compensator. if you didn't get a gasket for it then just use a small amount of rtv to seal it up. i prefer the rtv black or grey.
