Question on mazdatrix flywheel
Question on mazdatrix flywheel
Hey
I was going to get this, but I looked a little closer, and noticed this-
"Made from high quality steel, precision machined, heat treated, with steel ring gear heat-shrunk and welded to flywheel, bolts included to attach flywheel to rear counterweight, needed hardware is supplied for mounting the clutch (225mm), price includes rear counterweight. Weight (including rear counterweight) is approximately 17 pounds for all the non-turbo steel flywheels, and 18 pounds for the turbo ones."
Now, IIRC, the stock 79 clutch is 215mm, but in the above blurb, it says "...needed hardware is supplied for mounting the clutch (225mm)" Wasn't the 225mm clutch used on second and third gens? Will my stock clutch fit onto this flywheel?
Another thing- is this the same one as the racing beat lightweight steel flywheel? They are the exact same price, and I know Mazdatrix sells a lot of racingbeat's stuff. RB says their flywheel will bolt up to any stock or aftermarket clutch for the 7.
Any input apreciated
Thanks.

Mazdatrix DOES NOT make their own flywheels. They are all racing beat flywheels. If you ordered part number 11440 it will all work out for you. Unless you were shipped the WRONG flywheel by some slight chance.
FROM RB's Site:
Lightweight Steel Flywheel
1974-82 12A engines
The Lightweight Steel Flywheel is intended primarily for street use, but is also an economical racing alternative to the lightweight aluminum flywheel. It retains enough mass for comfortable standing starts in street use, yet it is sufficiently lighter to afford a noticeable improvement in low speed acceleration and to make shifting much smoother.
The weight of the stock flywheel is 30 lb (74-80) and 23 lbs (81-85), compared with 16 lbs for the Racing Beat Flywheel. The actual reduction in inertia from stock is much greater than the weights suggest, since the stock flywheel is 1 to 2 inches thick at its outside edge.
The Lightweight Steel Flywheel will bolt up to any pressure plate that will bolt to the stock flywheel (except the Rotary Pickup), and it uses the original bolts.
Tip: We strongly recommend replacing the throw-out bearing during any clutch work to ensure trouble free performance. Also, we recommend replacing the transmission front and rear seal kit when re-installing the transmission to reduce the possibility of leakage. See the Clutch/Pressure Plate section for these kits.
WARNING: None of the Flywheel or Clutch components shown in this site should ever be allowed to exceed 10,500 RPM under any condition. This same RPM limit applies to stock components. You must use an engine RPM-limiter to prevent excessive RPM. If your engine is capable of exceeding 8,500 RPM you must install a transmission scatter shield, or ballistic blanket. Failure to implement the above may result in serious injury or even death.
