question on differentials

I have a 1980 rx7, and I'm putting in a 85 gsl-se rear end. The only problem is that the ring gear and pinion gear on the gsl-se diff is broken.

The question I have is, Can I use the diff housing and ring gear from my 1980 with the gsl-se diff and axels? thanks

Mitch

Possibly, I'm not certain about that. I would remove the 3rd memebers as a complete unit, don't touch the pinion nut yet, then measure the R&Ps for comparission.

RX-2, RX-3 SP, SA, FB, KIA sportage/ B2600 4x4 all have the short pinion shaft and same ring diameter. So using the R&P from your 79 should work on the GSL-SE 3rd member. You wont notice a big difference between a 3.90 and 4.10.
