Question about swap..
I might want to do a turbo 2 swap on my fb but i need to figure out realisticly how much it costs and how much time it will take. So far I figure If I go the cheap route it wont be more then $1300. I wanted to know where I can find custom motor mounts or what to do to modify the existing ones. I also wanted to know if someone sells custom trans mounts or if I can modify my existing one. Hopefully I can collect enough info by tommorow to make my decision on what to do. Any suggestions will be apreaciated. Thanks.

This has been covered millions of times, most of the info is on here if you search for it. Is this going into a GSL-SE or a 12a car? If a 12a car then you need to modify the motor mounts. Either way you need a GSL-SE front cover and oil pan. The trans mount you modify yourself, as well as the shifter. As for $1300, double that and you might be closer Do some searching and come back with more specific questions for us to answer. good luck!

Nothing has to changed drastically. There is no heavy fabrication work involved and anyone can get the engine/trans mounted with basic tools and a drill, grinder, ect.
The S4 swap is simpler and cheaper, the S5 is more refined and powerful, but costs more and is technically a little more work.I did both my swaps myself and if you want to save money and have a good understanding of how the TII EFI works, then you need to tackle the swap yourself. My initial swap was a mostly stock S4,which cost about 1500 bucks for the basic running install.
I replaced every hose, gasket and seal while the engine was out,and I only paid labor for the custom driveline, gastank welding and exhaust system after the downpipe.I did spend another 1500 or so on mods at the time, like a S5 turbo, light flywheel, intake, exhaust and other performance parts. But a stock,185HP S4 swap can be done for 1000-1500 bucks.
I later switched to S5 for the better ECU and internals. My junkyard S4 engine didnt last,as it was wounded from the get-go.I had Mazdatrix build me a rock solid S5 engine with porting and the works for about 4500 bucks. It was way more money, but proved to be the right way to approach a reliable, daily driven TII swap 1st gen.I now have almost 50K miles on the S5 engine and T04B turbo, and it runs as good as the day I installed it,making about 300HP and staying smog legal.
