question about BBS rims on a 1980

Back when I knew squat about the RX-7 I purchased one because I like to be different. I learned allot and know allot more about the rotary than any other engine by far. I purchased a cherry red 1980 RX-7 (with ca emmisions) for a bit more than I should of, but as I said I knew nothing, 5 thousand seemed like a reasonable price. All in all it only had minor problems that i've fixed (including that thrifty CA emmisions setup, it's now where it belongs at our city dump) well anyways the car came with a set of snow tires (hehe yeah right they'll never touch the car) but the tires that are on it are a nice set of BBS rims, their 15" (205/50/15)'s and have black powdercoated spokes and a polished outer ring with the lil BBS logo smack dab in the center of each ones hubs. I have always been curious of how much these would sell for (at the moment I intend to keep them but in the future I just may sell them)

I would also like to know some background info on these rims as im a curious fellow and have only rarely heard about these on the rex's. One of the rims sadly does have minor curb rash for about 1/6th the diameter.

Do they look like those on the Seven that's pictured on the back cover of the Haynes Manual? Are you sure they're 15 inch, and not 14 inch? If they are really 15's then you have something I've never seen....I have a set of 14's, but the spoked area is gold and the outer edges are silver....

Neat set of rollers indeed, fella...they'd look real nice on a Silver Car....

Denny,

Not worth much...probably only 20 bucks...they arent very rare and everyone already has them...except me. Since you dont want them i can come and pick them up!

I'm just kidding. they remind me of the rims off of a porsche 911. i wouldnt have much knowledge about them. The best trade would be for some stock rims and $150 i think. That seems fair.

How wide are they by the way?

yes they are 15's

here is the best I can do for a picture, this is my car but the picture didn't really include the rims when it was taken... (i cropped it)

8 inches wide btw (205mm) and my haynes manual doesn't have any pictures on the back of it or in the back of it (1979-83)

Bare rims with blemish should sell around $300, but that's the minimum side. The two problems you have are 1) the bizarre 4 X 110 mm bolt pattern so that essentially only a 1st gen, non-SE RX-7 can use them and 2) the sad fact that most people buying parts for their early RX-7s are always looking for stuff on the cheap and not willing to pony up the $$ for the good stuff. Just look at how many Carter fuel pumps are in use by this Forum alone... Sorry, couldn't help myself, this RCMAC "graveyard" shift has me delirious...

Cool

do they look like the rims in my avitar??? except black??? i have since cleaned on of the rims up real nice.... cause I figured out how to take the locking lug nuts off..... and they will be goin onto my silver 80.....

I will take a picture when they are all mounted.. mine are 13's.... i was told that denny has a set of these... i guess this is what he is talkin about...... well... i guess I could take the rotors off the 79 car... and stick them on the 80, jsut so they will have studs and the rims will fit....

well.. LATERS, Andrew
