Quarter window removal... How???

I searched the forum.

I thought I knew how: just drill a small pilot hole in the sealant, then run your cutting wire through and start getting to work.

Well, many of you know what's coming next, I drill the hole only to have the complete window crack into itty bitty bits... luckly nothing really feel out.

So how do you do this little bit of majic? I'm stripping my SA of parts and would like to keep the other quarter window and I think the technique aplys to the windshield as well.

i always drill a very small hole and then make the cutting wire hot with a lattern battery or something. kind of like the styrofoam cutters at hobbie shops.

Ya those windows can be a pain. I ended up shattering one of mine, luckily I have a spare, just need to get it tinted.

The whole Piano wire trick didn't really do the job for me, I dunno maybe I was doing something wrong...

I used a razor knife to make the hole and then used the wire out of the hot start assist to cut the window out.

Start your wire at the top corner, pulling down and back under the glass. Once you have sawn through the corner, slip the wire throught the slot and cut as usual.
