I have recently finished molding the fibreglass bins for the sub boxes, I made it out of a material called nytex that is mat and woven fibreglass all in 1 thick sheet. It was $20cdn a yard and i used about 3 layers and maybe just over 2 yards. I am using 2 10" and plan on porting the 1" mdf cover that the subs will mount too with a 3" aeroport.

I have found 1 pic on the forum of this setup (just to make it clear, it's not mine)

After reading that post, the storage bin is NOT a good place for placing subs? As long as it bumps, Im fine with that, I don't need a sound competition system. I just want to feel the bass and the sound to be decent. Im also interested in the sub enclosures in the rear, do they sell boxes for that or are they custom made?

I feel the same way. Im not, and wasnt building a competition system, I just wanted some bass to the music. Im actually changing some things, and Im not all "bass headed" like I was. Now I just want SQ without all the drowning bass. So Im rethinking the system and getting some different stuff. I want it to sound good and clean when I listen to Pink Floyd, yet loud and clear for Aerosmith, or bump well with Nelly. I dunno, but I just want it to sound good and loud no matter what Im listening to.

EDIT: As far as I know, all the boxes in the rear by the tail lights (like Max 7s) are all custom.

one thing

one more thing to add about my setup or any other extensive audio system... it's HEAVY!!.my woofer enclosure and amp racks are made all out of 3/4" MDF... but I don't mind it...if I wanted to go a bit faster, I'd strip the car naked... but nahhhh.. it's up to yall

Depending on how much stuff you try to cram in the bakc, it's not THAT heavy... I know, I know.. 10 pounds is the equivalent of 1 pony, but sometimes you just gotta make compromises... LOL In all seriousness though, my setup is pretty light.. My amp weighs about 5 pounds and my sub and box together weigh about 30.. I can also remove all three is less than 2 minutes so it's good for me.. probably damned easy to steal, too...

how it sounds??

assuming you are asking about the subs only... they are great.. the W6's are fantastic.. I don't think I'm even feeding them enough juice through my ADS amp....the rest of my stereo consists of: alpine 7875.. alpine 3342 EQ..alpine v12F250 for my 2 sets of mb quart separates a capacitor and some overdone wiring

But....

If you get rid of your storage bins, you won't have a spot to put 2 small illegal aliens to sneak them across the border......

Ok well first of all I knew the mechanic personally so he did a nice job... basically what he did is that he drilled 2 holes that were bout 10 inches on the storage bin. after that, he put in some plywood(I think) to make sure that I wouldn't hear any rattling. He didn't put too much so that the car wouldn't weight too much, but enough to make sure the bass is nice. After that he wired up the subs, put them in, and finished the job. As for the amps, the amp that is in between the 2 subs is a 400W amp for the 8 speakers that I got in the car. The other amp that is behind the passenger seat is for the 2 subs. The amp is capable of holding 200 watts and the subs are 200 watts RMS and 400 watts peak. So that mean that each sub gets "only" 100 watts but let me tell you 100 watts is ENOUGH(it's even too much). Considering the fact that the subs are right in back of you, you need to tell yourself that you won't need as much bass if the subs were in the trunk. A lot of my friends have big souns systems, and I'm not here to brag or anything but compared to them my sound system rocks. The bass is nice isn't 10 times as loud as the sound(well you know the treble..) I didn't want to invest too much money on my sound system but I now realize that putting some more money is worth it. I know that having contacts with people help(I paid my sound system 1600$ CDN installed, work, taxes included instead of 3600$ retail price from Clarion)

Hope this helps!
Nick

I hope your rear windows are tinted.....or you are thinking of getting the rear louvers for your car.

That rear 6x9 box is in the perfect "shatter the rear window and steal me" position.

Do you feel the weight dragging your FB? Did you take out the spare tire or any excess weight to compensate for your system? Nice job btw.
