Purge valve: 79 vs 82

My purge valve got broken during one of our recent projects. So, when I was at the junkyard yesterday, I decided to get a new one, but the only car that had one was a 1979. It has an extra port on the bottom compared to the original one in my 82. Does anyone know if I can just cap one of the ports and swap it right in place of the original one?

Thanks
