Inspection sticker. You need all your emissions stuff intact to pass and get one. I used to have a contact that could pass anything (once got a car inspected while it sat in my garage 35 miles away) but we've since parted ways. Can't help you, man. Sorry.

damn... Here the whole emissions system has to be intact to pass a safety.. not necessarily working, but at least there and connected, ratsnest and all. (at least, this is what I've heard, don't take my word for it).

No emissions checks in this Province yet, across the river in Ontario there are, but not here yet... So I guess the ratsnest removal will have to wait until after my safety...

I passed with no emissions,no catalyic converter, and a 76 Cosmo 13B 4 port in an 81. Confuse them and they will pass you.

I imagine I will pass fine, no one knows what my car should have on it and the two silencers in my RB exhaust should look like a couple of cats. only problem is my horn doesn't work.

I imagine you will eventually find someone who will pass you especially if you look for someone into "limited use" vehicles and claim yours as such. They tend to be pretty lenient as they know that the cost of maintaining emmissions equipment on a car that is only driven a couple thousand miles a year outweighs the damage actually done by that vehicle (a devout tree-hugger would argue this point, but...). Afterall, race cars aren't required to carry emmissions equipment and there were plenty of those that burned more fuel than my 7 did last year.

You might even find someone, umm, mentally challenged enough to confuse into passing you. However, anyone who knows the law isn't going to be confused to the point they think your car was built before 1968 and therefore doesn't require emmissions equipment. Since there's no sniff test they primarily look for an air pump and cat and leave it at that. I've passed plenty of times just having those two items present, yet disfunctional (ie. no belt on the air pump).

What exactly do you mean by this? The difference in states often leads to confusion on terms like these. Case in point: the subject of this post; the NY sticker...

Well, in NY there is technically no emissions testing (may be different in NYC). I think by regional he is saying try a different part of the state. In parts of NY, like in Rochester, most places won't even do a visual inspection UNLESS it smells so bad they can't breath. Obviously, if it's backfiring and stinking up the garage at idle, it won't pass.

What I do: Go to a garage before you're ready to be inspected and ask about making an appointment. Ask how long it will take. Ask what testing they need to do, hinting at how long things like emissions will take. I've asked that question before and been flat out told "we don't have to do that in this area", and I checked the book of what's required, and even though it's like a million pages, there are only around five absolutely critical failing points. Emissions is not one of them.

Or go someplace friendly to sport cars, like a garage that deals with a lot of autocrossers.

Gotcha. That would make some sense. I forgot about some states having different rules by county. That makes even less sense than having different laws by state, if you ask me...as if the ozone layer is more resilient over specific areas

Here in Oregon (Tree Hugger Central) I live 70 miles from Portland, which requires Emissions, and about 200 miles from Medford (Tree Chopping Central), which also requires Emissions....but where I live there is no emissions....hows that for spazzy

Has anyone here removed a valid insp. sticker from a car? What I mean to say is, what if I walked thru a junkyard and snagged one off a car...is there a trick to getting one off without screwing it up?

Doesn't work very well. They tear very easily. They look funny after they've been put back on, but you could just say you had your windshield replaced which is why it looks funny...
