The intake ports may be big but the exhaust ports are what kick our ass. Those things look damn restrictive, why did they have to put those boxy looking exh sleves in there!?

How do you know it's a 95? Whats your SN? Mines E084025

Oh yeah, and thats a nice looking 1st gen :)

MIKE-P-28 04-03-02 08:05 PM

Ok so you guys see how low that motor is in the engine bay?

See if you look at my pictures the top most part of the cosmo intake manifold is right under the hood release...

Thats what I meant about dropping the engine another 1/2" to 3/4" down towards the ground after the intial 3/4" forward for the difference of the wider block...

Looks good tho, now I have another guinea pig besides setzep :)

By the way my engine number is E043215

riffraff 04-03-02 08:06 PM

car looks beutiful.. intake does too..
have fun with that monster

Mike, the first Gen in the pics has a 93 RX-7 intake, not the Cosmo one - FYI.

Next time I am over there, I'll take some more pics.

MIKE-P-28 04-03-02 08:17 PM

I knew that, but are they really perched that much higher?

Also the exhaust ports look to be a left and a right. But mine look the same... See on the top of my block on the spark plug sides it has R's on both housings. I wonder if you block is actually a F and a R ?

Oh yeah, and thats a nice looking 1st gen :)

I will be putting in 3rd Gen Exhaust sleeves in it.
I agree, they look smaller. My Tuner says Mazda always experimented with the cosmo engines. These supposedly offer more torque. I dunno why. Maybe because of the Luxury Car thing.

Setzep, Where is the SN? I am not sure where to look.
The engine is at the shop, so I'll have to wait till I go back. I am still not sure if I want to open it up and port it from the get go, than wait for it to eventually "go". Compression is VERY high on it though..

peejay 04-03-02 08:24 PM

Wow

With all these 13B-RE 1st-gens we're gonna be hunting bigger prey than usual... Like me hunting down this DSM!

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=565187

(okay it was just an excuse to use this cool pic I took last fall and just found 10 minutes agol :) yes that is the low 8 second Buschur car)

As far as height goes, maybe we should ask AJC13B (Steve). I don't think its much higher, if at all. After comparing the manifold to a 3rd gen one, I see that the entry angle of the Cosmo is steeper, (kinda like a narrow V6 as opposed to the 90degree V6). This is why the Intake ports are larger on the outiside (they are the same size inside) To keep the airflow with a straighter path.

As far as the F and R goes, rotorhousings are pretty much the same, only the rotors themselves cannot be swapped. This is my understanding.

MIKE-P-28 04-03-02 08:25 PM

The serial # is located on the front of the block, its the front housing in front of the rotor housing.... just directly behind the water pump housing.

riffraff 04-03-02 08:26 PM

it is not going to take a 13b re for me to start hunting them.. i am already hunting mustangs. tsi dsm's will be my next prey once i get a new carb

peejay 04-03-02 08:28 PM

Rotor housings may not be swappable for emissions port reasons, however all 13B rotors are swappable front to rear! It's only the late 12A rotors that can't be swapped because they have asymmetrical dishes.

See.. told ya I don't know shit.;)

I could have sworn that 13B Rotors also have an F and R on them. Oh well. Good, then i have a few spares:D

What! you can take the sleves out? Cool, how?

The s/n is stamped on the top of the front iron and should start with a "E". If you know your's is a 95 I'd like to see what your # is to try to guess what year mine is.

Directfreak 04-03-02 11:50 PM

No problem. My tuner is working non-stop for the next two weeks trying to get is Drag car ready for the NHRA Drag races in Gainesville. (gonna go 8's in a TII)

I will be in Vegas next week, (to steal Gonzz front spoiler- just kidding Gonzz) and will be back at my tuner's shop after the 15th. I will get you the S/N then. Remind me though, my memory sux.

As far as the sleeves go, I asked him about the restrictive size and asked if we are going to port it open. He said, "no, well just put in third gen ones."

I don't know how, but he made it sound like it was not a big challenge. I will pm you the info when I get it.

I know I am further behind than you and Mike-P, but I (fortunately) have some professional help to guide me over here.

79+80_rx-7 04-04-02 12:17 AM

hey when you steal the spoiler, go ahead and grab that other one for me:D
LATERZ, Andrew

Directfreak 04-04-02 12:54 AM

Which one? the one from his other SA?

79+80_rx-7 04-04-02 01:09 AM

yeppers, I want one too, but while your at it, just get me the whole car. We will see if he notices it missing:D J/k gonzz :) I could never steal someone's pride, and joy:)

V8kilr 04-04-02 03:23 AM

that body kit is so bad ass,
you cant even tell its as old as it is,

the car would easily pass for a 93 mazda ????

MIKE-P-28 04-04-02 12:13 PM

Ok guys lets get back on topic :) No more body kits :)

Now do you just jerk out those sleeves or what? Whats the difference in the 2? Anyone got a pic?

Oh well sorry if I sound incoherent again, I freaking went out with the boys again last nite, and Im still drunk and called in sick again :(

I know I am further behind than you and Mike-P, but I (fortunately) have some professional help to guide me over here.
That suxs dude, wished I had someone to ask that had done this type of thing, and when the time comes Im gonna be screwed trying to tune it :(

jeremy 04-04-02 12:25 PM

don't worry mike, i'll come in to town and help you, lol. "oooooooo, whats this button do?"

1Bad85Rex 04-04-02 06:33 PM

OK, that's a Mariah kit right? Looks sooooooo sweet. Can u buy just the air dam, i think that would look real sexy on my car! Know what else would look real sexy on my car... those wheels! Who makes them, who sells them, how much, and do they come in 4x114.3?

The back flares are Mariah.
The rocker panels are custom
The front Fenders - Porsche (911/930 Slant nose) - *not sure on this one *
The front Bumper - Porsche 944 Turbo

peejay 04-04-02 07:26 PM

It looks nothing like an RX-7. :( It makes the car look too modern.

Directfreak 04-04-02 08:39 PM

By the way, nobody replied about the nickname?

"Project Kramer" as in "COSMO Kramer" from Seinfield.

Good or Sux?

riffraff 04-04-02 08:41 PM

front end of that body kit kinda reminds me of the last verson of the 300zx

With the exception of the way cool intake, its basically gonna be like yours rx7passion... Dunno why you couldnt find one? There all over the place now, by the way the dude picked up the motorcycle today, I got $1500 in hand, time for a clutch, flywheel, & single turbo setup... That put me at about $3200 :) Do I qualify for the money pit yet?

Directfreak 04-05-02 09:50 PM

Mike,

Any decision on the clutch, flywheel and Turbo yet?
(Hey, weren't you keepin the twins?)

I am planning on a 17lb Lightweight Flywheel from Racing Beat. Man, I didn't know they were this expensive..

I still haven't decided on the Turbo or clutch though.

BTW, if we end up with a similar enough setup, When Iam done, I will send you the MAP from my Haltech setup if you like.

MIKE-P-28 04-05-02 10:21 PM

IM me, Ill tell ya what Im getting :) Got it all figured out, also got a price on the flywheel and stuff from RB, it was way cheaper than Mazdatrix (which he told me to contact RB directly)...

EDIT: I can get the twins to work, but Mr. Bud Light says MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE HP :D

Hey what are you thinking about for a turbo? I'm looking into getting a 60-1 or a T62 p trim with somewhere around a 1.00 a/r exh housing. If your thinking about the same turbo spec. What secondary injectors are you going to run?
I woulden't mind trading haltech maps with ya when your done;). Is crispeed doing the tuning for you of are you going to be doing it yourself?
So far I have the 17lb flywheel from rb and am waiting on a clutch that I ordered from BNR supercars (stage 3). It's a 4 puck sprung design. I talked to Bryan from their and thats what he told me to get for what my expected HP# were going to be (350-375 to the wheels). Said that would give me a little safety factor if I ever upgraded or took the engine apart to port for more hp. Talk to felix wankel about it, he has one on his T2 and says he likes it.

Actually Mike-P and I chatted online last nite about it. He told me the deal you guys are getting from BNR. Sounds like a good deal. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the T-04B part. Those turbos aren't the best for power or responsiveness.

I don't have my flywheel yet and I have to get a counterbalance:mad: because my engine didn't come with it.
Oh well. My Turbo ideas went out the window when I decided on the big-port Cosmo. As far as the clutch goes, I am not sure about that either. Secondary Injectors will likely be 1200 cc's for safety and low duty cycle.

Basically, I have my ideas, and the Tuner has his - since he has been doing Turbo Rotaries since the 80's, I am sure he knows ALOT more than I do and will take his advice :D .

I'd be happy to send you Haltech Maps when I am done too.

MIKE-P-28 04-06-02 02:23 PM

Yeah I appreciate the sharing of the maps if you do so, but we are gonna have to have basically the same parts right?

Can I send my secondaries to RC engineering for a re-do or whatever its called. Can they jet more fuel? Or do i just buy different ones?

Wattz 04-06-02 08:53 PM

That car makes me feel funny.

When you guys are done, would you let me drive it around the block just 1 time?

MIKE-P-28 04-06-02 08:56 PM

NOPE lol :D
