Before this video i was thinking about buying just a Hybrid upgrade for my TII engine....now i've got no chioce but full single!! lol very nice job on the car... Looks amazing.... Cant imagine what its like to drive with almost 500rwhp... Now you need to get some slicks and lift those wheels off the ground!

One other question... What's the strength comparison? I'd think the weak point of the Mazda axle is the shaft diameter. What's the shaft diameter of the 8.8" versus the Mazda 7"...

(640x480) Japanese Specifications (640x480)
Specifications (in Japanese) (640x480)

This FD3S (3rd generation) RX7 is made by a company called Esprit.
It is powered by a 13B-REW engine which the modifiers claim makes 700ps (ps is 'metric horsepower', and is measured differently - probably about 650 SAE horsepower).

Turbo: Single T78 @ 1.5 kg/cm (21 PSI boost)
Muffler: Stock
Computer: Stock
Injectors: Six 550cc and Six 440cc

It also features a lot of HKS equipment such as boost controller, auxiliary fuel computer.
It is a pricey conversion at over $US 10k as you could build a 20B for the same price.
The car is on page 49 of the Japanese book 'Hyper-rev RX7 FC3S & FD3S', published in 1992 in Japan. This book is available from time to time in Japan and is a Japanese RX7 fan's bible. Unfortunately it is virtually impossible to get outside Japan.

There is another 13B of comparable power made by a company called 'Scoot'. It uses a peripheral port and single turbo.
Pictures captured from a video that's on the web. There's 3 guys sitting on the back of the car to try and help traction on the dyno!
(Update Dec 2002 - the esprit RX7 was made in 1992, 10 years ago at time of writing. this was leading edge at the time at it took until about 1999 before I heard of others making 600-700hp 13B-REW engines with mostly stock internals, I have heard reports of 740, even 800hp from a 13B-REW on nitrous. It would be feasible to set up the intake ports, turbo and fuel systems for 900hp although this is really in exploding engine territory)

robert at rotary shack made 720RWHP on a 12A it can certinaly be done on a 13b

Wow... Just... WOW!

Way to kick some serious ***. That car was the car of my dreams *before*, back when you beat the crap out of that Z, but now it's above and beyond.

You're an inspiration to all of us here on the forum.

Damnit that thing is NASTY. I can't wait to get my TII project underway now. Granted, I'll be lucky to have 300 RWHP on stock ports, turbo, ECU....but DAMN.

Now you've got me looking for a Haltech.

And I keep watching the Video over, and over, and over.

Uber nice car Freak. Sweet job on the tuning Crispeed.

Oh yea, where'd you get the soundtrack from? It's sweet listening to it...between the pulls. I can't hear it during.

Wayyyy to freakin much. Let's just say it's more than a third gen, with the same amount of power. I also had "TWO" setups. One Holley, and one Haltech. A Rebuild, a Port job, a clutch that decided to grenade, etc...

I still haven't worked on making the car "pretty" either. Still need to install the widebody, new wheel$, etc.

If I were to do it all over again, I would do a true TII swap like Steve84GS/Rex4Life, and make the car as light as possible - keeping the stock rear and stock tranny. 300rwhp is plenty fast in these cars.

Car handles great. I have Tokico 5 ways and Eibach springs in the front, along with the RB Swaybar. The car is nice and low too. With the 4 link setup, it's no longer a road-course car, but it handles the street perfectly. On Expressway on ramps, it sticks well, at even 90+ mph. I am keeping it at 12 psi for the street cruising. At 14 psi the drag radials have a hard time keeping up once the car hits boost.

I'd say at least 100 lbs over stock, but many times the strength. It has a Ford 8.8 casing, 9" ends with the big bearings, Strange Axles with 31 spline, Auborn limited slip diff, Ford Motorsport gears, Aerospace Rear Brakes.

What did I do? Why are you gunning for me? My car is slowww. Pick on someone your own size, you big bully.

With an S5 or hybrid turbo, there is no reason you couldn't get 300 out of a stock port
TII with the stock ECU. Look at Steve84GSTII's bad @$$ car. His is even smog legal!!

Trust me, you'll be suprised at how well 300rwhp moves these cars. I should've gone that route, for a fraction of the cost and time.

The music is:
1) "What is Fight club" by the Dust Brothers
2) "Benedictus" by Brain Bug

Thanks for the nice comments guys - It means alot to me. Especially my still emerging Video-making skills. Trust me, you guys are an inspiration to me as well.

Now you've got me shooting for 300 RWHP, and I won't be happy till I get there. Oh well, it'll sure be fun trying to get there. I still have to get the friggin motor back in one piece.
