Productive christmas project

Well i have a 79 sa that has had MAJOR electrical problems from the get go. i pin pointed the problem being mainly the underdrive RB pulleys and not enough rpm in town. I ended up swapping the main pulley back to the orignal diameter. I had my brother hold the clutch in while i used a 3/4 drive impact and backed off the nut. then i slipped the RB pulley off and the orignal back on, used some red loctite and impacted it down and set the torque. the other problem was my mouse eaten patched harness, the old glass fuse box and rigged wiring. Instead of trying to go through and patch here and there, i decided to upgrade to a 81-83 harness. i bought an 83 harness but was missing some needed parts. either way i started pulling all my harness out and started running the new harness through. once i got the harness in i wanted to try to fire it up. well a sa and fb harness is a big difference. we did some figure with the help of Sam (bad83) and got the car fired up. once cranked we tried to figure out the combination switch, even more different. i started to worry, thinking it was going to be even more rigged then before. sam and i started talking and decided i need a new comb switch out of a 81-83. thats when i started thinking and decided to give a guy a call that pmed me a couple weeks ago. he lives in SC but grew up just 15 mins away. I called him up and he was in town and had a 81 gsl for sell. Sam and I decided to take a look at it. its just a parts car the interior and body are pretty bad off but not bad enough that we cant salvage 80%. we talked to the guy and by 9 am christmas eve the car was in my driveway. so i started pulling the ingintion switch and the comb switch, dash cluster and the rear harness. with a little handy work and a solid day i had the igintion and comb switch and dash cluster and the rear harness off the 81 hooked up and mounted in my sa. everything hooked up plugged up and worked. the car fires up quicker and seems to run smoother. i still have some work putting the headlight motors and horns, and side marker on and putting the interoir back together but its working out nicely. and once the electrical is good im going to swap rear ends and put the gsl lsd and rear disc in the sa.

just want to say thanks to Sam (bad83) for the help and to Tim (mazzda123)for the 300 buck gsl.

ill try to post some pics of the conversion once i get it all put back together

yeah the combination switch and dash cluster layout is nicer i think and easier to use. i cant wait to get everything back together and reliable. the elcetrical system in the 81-83 in my opinion will work out better for me.
