Primary Venturi Question
Primary Venturi Question
Hey guys,
Recently got my 83 with the stock nikki back on the road and it's been great other than it stumbling with anything other than the slightest amount of throttle at low rpms. Pulled the air cleaner off to inspect the venturis and only one of the primary venturis is pulling fuel until about 2.5-3k or so where the second one starts pulling. Is that how that's supposed to be? I remember seeing a butterfly on the intake manifold and the side that's not pulling is the one on top of it. Rats nest was deleted before I got it and it's currently unplugged, assumed it would stay open like that.
It'll cold start with no accelerator pump or choke and happily idle at 750rpm and the accelerator pump is working good and other than that it seems happy and healthy, the stumbling gets better as it warms up but it makes it almost undrivable until it's warm (I guess that's the point of the choke lol)
Thanks!

Is the shutter valve wired open?
Can you see the carb bowl sight glasses (need a mirror probably), and see if the fuel levels are the same in both sides?
Also... just to clarify. Are you seeing fuel flowing all the time or only with the throttle opened up? The booster should not be flowing any fuel at idle and if it is, that's a sign that the fuel level is too high on that side and the fuel is overflowing through the main circuit.

The valve is not wired open, pretty sure it hadn't been touched. The bowl at the front of the car is just above half when off and right at half when running and the bowl closer to the firewall stays right at half. Would having a slight difference in height cause them to pull differently?
