no start..... what a suprise

I have no spark coming from my primary coil. So i switched the primary and secondary coils and still have no spark from the primary. Both times the secondary sparked when tuning it over.

Any help would be helpfull,

use test light and see if you're getting juice to the coil.

Easy way to check spark is to grab a spare spark plug or pull one out of the engine. Plug it into the specific wire you want to check and lay it on top of the alternator. Make sure it's stable and the outer bolt of the plug is touching the metal of the alternator (used to get a ground). Have a friend crank it over and look for spark on the plug.

Coils do go bad, but they are not usually the culprit. Since you swapped with the trailing and you still arn't getting spark on the leading, I would say it is the ignitor, pickup, or wiring.

I would put money on it being the ignitor. The leading ignitor is the one closest to the radiator. Try swapping them and see what you get. If it runs good but your tach doesn't work, then it was the ignitor. The tach gets it's signal from the trailing ignitor.

If this doesn't work then start working your way down. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor (pickups), coil wiring.

Good luck

agreed on the ignitor failing. they're pretty common part that will fail. remember though our cars are over 20 years old. not bad if you ask me.
