Question price on an '80?

I found an 80 at a used car lot near my house.....
It's got black vinyl int. and light blue ext.
Painted over bubbles of surface rust on nearly every panel.
Missing plenty of int trim (door panels ripped, shifter surround, foot well pieces seats ripped).
Pass. side mirror missing and door handle is broken.
Rusted bumper support brackets.
Rusted through spare tire well.
No air cleaner on the carb, and vac lines hanging everywhere.
54K showing but the title is milage exempt so God only knows how many are really there.
Carb was just rebuilt allegedly, for 300 bux.
Starts but then after about 20 minutes cuts out and will not restart until cold again.

Will not go a penny lower than 1100!!!!
Says he just sold one in identical shape that ran perfect to a guy for 2400!!

I think this guy is off his rocker, and told him 400 to 800 is more like it, but he said not to let the door hit me on the *** on the way out, HAHA.

what you think about that price?

Yeah I told him if the engine ran perfect 800, but knowing about the problem and the mystery miles 350-400. I'm not gunna buy it, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't way off here.

I'm trying to get a 7 for my fiancee and she likes FB's the most. anyway still looking!

even 500 is too high. I got my 85 for free and I was with my friend when he bought his 79 automatic for 500, 85 base model for 350, and another 85 base model for 75, all from different people. Tell him to lay off the crack pipe.

Too high. I purchased my '80 for $500. Paint is faded, light surface rust on a couple of panels. The rear storage bin panels where rusted but no rust on the floor panels, wheel wells, or spare tire well. Interior was poor. Ran rough, but only needed a tune up.

With that kind of rust - RUN! Mazda sold 375,000 SA/FBs in the US. There are LOTS of nice ones out there. That car will dog you to death....
