power windows

any quick fixes for fickle power windows. Work when they want too. Should I just buy new motors?

You can push your car off a cliff so nothing works, then you won't be so worried about the windows

Just kidding.

I really have no clue, just felt like being a smart ***.

I'm guessing you should probably check to see if you are getting good power at the switches, if you are, go to the motors to check, if not, go further down the line and check to see where the problem is.

I just did the power window conversion on my 85. Read up on this mod: power window mod Really makes sense to do this. Helps out alot. Also since I did some reaserch on them before I decided to put them on, it seems that alot of people are having the same problems that you describe.

If I was in your shoes, I would lube up the window mechanisms and motor. I think the switches can be pulled apart, I'm not sure since mine are working perfectly and I did not have to, but if they weren't I would try and take them apart try to and clean the contacts.

thats a pretty good write -up. i had thought about doing this but adding a constant power feed wire in the door and putting the relay's in the doors. that way it has less wiring to go thru.
