Power window wiring installation/removal
Ok, as some of you might know, I'm putting power windows in my car. I was told that the only thing I needed was the regulators (which i have), the switches, and the wiring that goes from the motor to the harness just inside the door (i just bought those two today). However, I recently discovered in another thread that I also need the wire bundle that goes from some harness under the dash to the center console, so I can plug in my switches. Thats all fine and dandy, cause I know of a car in the junkyard that has the wire, but there's just one problem; how do i get the wire out of the junk car, and, more importantly, how do I install the wire in my car, without destroying the carpet, and also have it be in the same path as it would be from the factory (or at least be out of sight)? Any ideas?

Really? It looked like it was going towards the front on the SE I looked at. Anyway, how do I get at enough of the wiring to install the harness?

I just put in power windows in my 85 GS. Take the wiring from the motor that goes from the door to inside the car(which you did)
then under the drivers seat there is a wiring harness that you will need. You will need to replace this with the one you have in your car because yours does not have the wires that go to the power window switch. Some wires from the harness run to the rear of the car, I was too lazy to find out where they go so I just cut them and connected them. I took out the drivers seat to make things easier. I was suprised at how easy it was to do.

If I remember correctly, each power window switch has 4 wires. Black (ground 12v - ) black/blue (12V ign) and 2 other wires which are the window motor wires..
This is a very simple install, really only 5 wires to run. 2 to each door, and 1 to ign 12V fused with a 20a fuse. You dont have to run a ground wire very far, just extend it a little put a ring terminal on, and ground it with a screw to the metal under the shifter or close to.
I forget which color goes to what on the power window plug, but it really doesnt matter, you just put the switch in the panel accroding to up being upwards on the console.

Thanks guys, I just go done putting my seat back in after wiring the harness in myself, using a variety of radioshack components between the stock plastic harness under the seat, and the switch harness, and it seems to work (at least the passenger side), but I'll have to remove the seat again tomorrow, and work out all the bugs when its light out, and also make sure all the wires are secure enough to go autocrossing. Thanks again for your help!
