Power Window Motor

I'm installing power windows into my 1985 S model RX-7, but I ran into a potential snag when testing the electronics. I have all the pieces (I think), including the jumper between the door and the interior. When I did a test of the system, I hooked up the harness under the seat, the window switches, the jumper, and the window motor. I just wanted to make sure everything worked before full installation. When I hit the window switch, it only operates the motor in one direction. Is this somehow normal?

In my example, the window motor spins when I push the window switch in the down position, but nothing happens when I push the switch in the up position.

Power is obviously going to the motor, so I'm not sure what the problem is. The wires all look good, and the window switch looks good. Any ideas?

well, generally, the window rolls down using one polarity and rolls down using another right?

so... with the motor disconnected, and a voltmeter connected in it's place you press the down button you get 12v and up you get -12v?

if not try the same on the passenger side, you could have it wired right and half of the switch may be burnt?

in a standard setup without the relay mod the switch is what reverses the polarity...
