windows are the same, don't know about the linkage, though.

ive got an 84 gs and was considering a power window swap as all of the linkage for both windows is shot to the point of immobility. im planning to go about it by swapping the whole doors - input, good idea, bad idea?

The SE is NOTORIOUS for the damn window regulators. on power windows of course. im sure its a direct swap. just that the regulators are weak! all my friends that have SE's have this problem the window not going up all the way not alligning right even sounding like its breaking on the way up and then even worse if you try to back it up.
I removed the regulator and played with it for a little bit
bent some bars for a little reinforcement slapped it back on and works fine now just a little unaligned at the top right corner i just have to guide the window at about 1in before it completly closes to go inside the molding PROPERLY other wise it will take the inner part of the molding inward.

Its a wonderful conveince but if you dont want the hassle just leave it.

the motors are expensive too and so are the regulators unless ur lucky enought to find GOOD ones at the yard.

Try greasing the window channels with silicone spray if they are getting a lil stuck on it's way up. In the end you'll have to fork over the $40 for each channel, so this is just a mickey mouse trick.

The power regulators are a direct drop-in. I did this to my car about a year ago. However, if the only reason you want to go to power windows is to get more aligned windows, don't do it. The power regulators are plagued by the same problems that the manual ones are--namely, a design that needs fairly constant maintnence. Grease/oil the rails. That worked for me.

i acctually swapped my power windows out on my SE for some 1981 gs crank window regulators, i hooked up the p/w into the 81 gs but couldnt get the SE p/w switch to fit to the connection but it bolted right up
my window regulators worked really good ill sell them to ya 15 each or 25 for both plus shipping
but like everyone else said its all about alignment
