Question Power sideview mirror resetting on it's own??

I'm guessing this is an electrical problem somewhere...but I haven't a clue where to begin (or if it's worth the energy at that).

At random, when I come to drive the good old FB ('84 GSL, loaded), I notice that the passenger side sideview mirror (which is power) has reset itself, so I have to readjust it. The driver side one never resets itself...it always stays in the same position it's been adjusted to. But like I said, every now and then, the passenger side resets to I guess the default position (ie I can't see jack outta it) and I'm tryin to figure out how/why?

Thanks
~Ramy

It's a Rex! They have their little likes and dislikes. Yours just doesn't like her mirror in that position

very true, my side mirror does the same, but its not power, so i leave her be, plus its a pain in the *** to bend over to adjust it like 30 times till its just right

Which is why I can live w/ it...because it's power (not rubbing it in). I'd imagine i'd get annoyed real fast if it wasn't power and kept resetting...

Mine does the same thing, when the switch is flipped to the right and I get in/out of the car, if I leave it flipped to the left problem solved.

Mine is the same, it always seems to move when I shut the door. I just think that it is from the shutting of the door causing the mirror to get jostled ($5 word right there ).

1st gens don't ride the smoothest. the vibration is just working the mirror to a different position. i always had to readjust my mirrors in my 83 GSL. my SE's mirrors stay put better and i'm not running 15x7 low-profiles on it either

Hmmm...I'm gonna try Tech's idea...and leave the switch in the left position and see if it makes a difference.

SAT-Boy err I mean Jbar3987 (lol) and cpt_gloval, yea I thought it might from vibration and rattling etc, but I rarely have anyone riding shotgun, so the passenger side door doesn't open or close much. The driverside door takes most of the motion...and I thought that it would only make sense that my driver side mirror would move it's position as well if it was a vibration issue...(unless there's some type of bearing that gets loose behind the mirror, and the passenger side one is loose, but the driverside one isn't?)

mine would work itself out of adjustment after 20 minutes on the interstate. granted, the interstate in seattle is a bumpy joke. but yeah just the vibration from driving around is what knocked mine out of whack. on 205/50 15" tires.

u guys know what funny about 90% of our threads? is that when someone asks about something wrong about their car and need to get it repaired ... everyone that has the same problem jumps in and says they have the same problem and its takes 100 posts to get someone to give an answer to the problem ....

but back to the problem ... sometimes the problem is from improper cleaning of devices ... buttons getting half stuck that if there's any small movement it would activate it ... (atleast that was my problem.) i took the switch apart and and cleaned it out ... (quite a bit of yucky sutff in there)
